About

Lost in a dark wood and driven back from the sunlit hill by a leopard, a lion, and a ravenous she-wolf, Dante is close to surrender when the poet Virgil appears. The way forward is no ordinary road: Virgil will lead him down through the realms of the dead, where every step brings Dante nearer to horrors he has only heard described. But first he must find the courage to follow a guide who cannot take him all the way home.

At the gateway to Hell, the words carved in stone command every soul to abandon hope. Beyond it, the air fills with cries, and the damned crowd the banks of Acheron, waiting for Charon’s boat. Dante is still alive among them—and the journey has only begun. Can he endure what lies beyond the river, and discover why Heaven has sent him there?
